James Cameron is one of the most successful, well-known directors in the world currently working on the subsequent films for his blockbuster hit Avatar. When he and his producing partner Jon Landau decided to renovate their offices, they wanted it to reflect not only the look and feel of the next four Avatar films, but to also embrace the eco-friendly message behind the series.
They enlisted the help of designer Lynda Murray to bring that vision to life. The result is a completely green 100,000 square foot office that features sustainable materials and fabrics and a full solar panel system on the roof that has allowed the company to work at net-negative power for the past four years.
The offices are a beautiful representation of Pandora with some truly special touches. It’s a great reminder to fill your office with things that will inspire you and fuel your creativity. Enjoy this unique office tour courtesy of Architectural Digest.
James Cameron Office Tour
Clean, modern lines create the perfect space in which to focus. The dark wood warms things up while the contrast with the white walls and lighter flooring bounces the natural light and keeps the space feeling open.
A comfortable seating area provides the perfect place for relaxed meetings or to take a break.
A seating area outside the in-house theater sets the mood for the types of movies Cameron is known for. Beautiful shapes and clever lighting create an ambiance that reflects the world of Pandora, even down to a lightbox on the ceiling that looks as though you’re looking up through the trees in that world.
Props from Avatar, a classic popcorn stand, and other interesting movie artifacts welcome you into the theater as though you are at an upscale cinema.
The interior of the theater is truly spectacular with plush seating in the front and office chairs in the back with computers for taking notes and doing work on the films.
There are constant reminders of past projects to cultivate a creative atmosphere in the offices.
What a cool space!
Warm regards,
Megan
