Home Tour: Kelis’ Eclectic 1920’s Glendale Home

Kelis, who found fame with the hit song “Milkshake” but is now a successful chef with a book and a sauce brand, purchased a 1920’s Spanish-style home in Glendale a few years ago and renovated it. She was careful to preserve the historical details that made her fall in love with the property in the first place while infusing it with some of her own flair and style. The result is a design-savvy, truly unique home.

She has now put the home on the market for $1.885 million. The residence is 3,850 square feet and features a large outdoor space with a pool, perfect for entertaining or relaxation. The entire home feels spacious inside, too, with sprawling rooms and plenty of natural light. It’s definitely a real estate gem.

The Chic Vintage Look of Mirrored Furniture

The Hollywood Regency look has always been one of my favorites. It is glamour at its finest. It captures the essence of the old Hollywood films and can be transformed to fit a contemporary style. One of the staples of the Hollywood Regency look is mirrored furniture.

Mirrored furniture is perhaps the most recognizable element of Hollywood Regency and is also one of the most versatile. It can look ultra modern or very vintage depending on the lines of the furniture and style of the glass. The mirrored look can be found on just about any piece of furniture, from dressers and vanities to entire bedroom sets.

The following 10 spaces show just how versatile this look can be. The common element is the elegance mirrored furniture can bring to any space.

Home Tour: Tiffani Thiessen’s 1920’s Compound

Some homes have the special ability to make you feel at home at first glance. They hug you with their charm and inviting atmosphere. This is definitely true of actress Tiffany Thiessen’s 1920’s home, which is complete with historic character, beautiful grounds and even some chickens.

It is a picturesque estate. Tiffani has put her own touch on the property with modern touches and pops of color, but much of the home’s original architecture and flair still exist. It’s a perfect balance of the old and the new.

The home is ideal for Tiffani’s growing family and her love for entertaining. Enjoy this lovely home tour of a 1920’s compound like no other.

Old Meets the New: Antiques in Modern Spaces

I love the look of antiques and modern designs converging in a space. Antiques bring charm and character, while modern sensibilities offer a clean, fresh palette. When the two come together, magic happens.

If you feel like your home is lacking character, one of the best things you can do is check out flea markets and thrift stores. Some of the best finds can be discovered there and it always feels like it’s one-of-a-kind. Even if it needs a little refurbishing, there’s little a can of spray paint can’t fix.

The end result is something truly special that will make your home feel unique and more personal.

Here are 10 examples of antiques in modern spaces. They show how even just one or two antiques can make a space come alive with character.
