How To Organize and Beautify Your Laundry Room

Laundry rooms and bathrooms are two spaces that if you want you can go wild in, choosing decor and color schemes that step far outside the rest of your home’s design. They are that rare opportunity to do something totally different. You can be as bold as you’d like without feeling as though you may ruin the flow of the house. Instead of looking at them as a boring utility space, think of them as a great design opportunity. They are typically on the smaller side too, which makes them less expensive to decorate because you don’t need as much to get the job done.

The first step to a beautiful laundry room is keeping it organized. Here are a few tips on laundry room organization:

  • Decorate up! Use the vertical space in your laundry room to maximize your organization.
  • Hang a drying bar for clothes that need to air-dry. Bath towel racks, clothes racks and retractable clotheslines are perfect for this.
  • Have a laundry hamper with three or four slots or multiple hampers so you can easily sort clothes as you go, rather than wait until laundry day. Label all the slots/hampers (lights, darks, delicates) for easy organization.
  • Store all cleaning supplies and detergents in one spot, such as a drawer, basket, or caddy to minimize clutter.
  • Keep a basket or jar to catch small objects you find in pockets.
