Inspiring Designers Round-Up: Part II

These inspiring designers have changed the way we look at design. Check out their amazing creativity in this round-up | HomeandEventStyling.com

Continuing part one of the round-up, here are five more inspiring designers whose work I’ve featured this year.

Each designer in this post has a unique, recognizable style. All have introduced designs that have changed the industry in their own way, leaving an indelible mark that continues to inspire other artists and homeowners alike. What’s also inspiring is how vastly different from each other, offering their own perspectives on interior (and even exterior) art.

From architecture to furniture, these inspiring designers cover a great range of how design can be intrepreted. No matter what your personal style is, it’s hard not to find inspiration from these incredible artists.

Eye on the Designer: Marcel Wanders | HomeandEventStyling.comMarcel Wanders
Marcel Wanders is a visionary. As co-founder of the successful design label Moooi and the art director, product and interior designer of his powerhouse studio (which employs around 50 international design specialists), Wanders has made a name for himself in the industry as one of the most prolific and innovative designers.

Eye on the Designer: Ralph Lauren | HomeandEventStyling.comRalph Lauren
Ralph Lauren is an American designer who has created a style empire, from fashion and fragrances to home decor. It all embraces a standard of luxury that he has become known for. The trademark style of Ralph Lauren is always upscale and sophisticated, whether in a rustic, laid back setting or in a sleek, glamorous space.

Eye on the Designer: Mackenzie-Childs | HomeandEventStyling.comMackenzie-Childs
No one does whimsy quite like Mackenzie-Childs. Husband and wife team Richard and Victoria Mackenzie-Childs founded their furniture and ceramics line to share their unique vision of design with the world. Though they have recently parted ways with the company, their creative aesthetic lives on through its products and is still capturing people’s imaginations.

mayaromanoff05Maya Romanoff
Some designers transcend design and what they create should instead be considered art. Such could be said about Maya Romanoff, the creative genius behind the Maya Romanoff Corporation and its exquisite wall coverings. Though Romanoff passed away a year ago, his legacy lives on through the company and the work of the designers that perpetuate his vision.

frankgehry03Frank Gehry
Frank Gehry has designed many of the most recognizable buildings in the world. Vanity Fair labelled him as “the most important architect of our age” and many of his buildings have become world-famous tourist attractions. His best-known works include the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles and the Guggenheim Museum in Spain.

Which designer of these five has inspired you the most?

Warm regards,
Megan

Eye on the Designer: Antoni Gaudi

Antoni Gaudi was the genius behind some of the most recognizable and truly unique feats of architecture ever created. As a Catalan, his works are primarily found in Barcelona, Spain and are a huge draw to travelers and artists alike. His distinctive style was influenced by neo-Gothic art and Oriental techniques, which led him into the Modernista movement. Gaudi’s creations were influenced by his lifelong passions for religion, nature and architecture.

Seven of his works were declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO and his portfolio continues to be studied and admired by architects. His body of work is nothing short of inspiring. Enjoy this small selection of some of my favorite works of his.

Eye on the Designer: Frank Lloyd Wright

Frank Lloyd Wright is one of the most well-known and lauded American architects. Though he is most famous for his architectural feats, he was also an interior designer, writer and educator. In his lifetime, he designed more than 1,000 structures, 532 of which were seen through to completion. His belief was that man-made structures should be in harmony with nature and the environment, which he called “organic architecture.” One of his most favored projects, a residence called Fallingwater, is a prime example of this philosophy.

You can see his unique perspective and ingenious way of expressing it throughout this small selection of his work that I’ve gathered for this post. It is truly inspiring to see how his work has held up over the years and will continue to remain classics long into the future.
