Do lockdown orders and travel restrictions have you dreaming about the ultimate vacation? If so, you’re not alone. I have been dreaming about a tropical getaway myself. As we wait for the world to become safer to travel, join me for an elegant virtual escape to the exclusive resort community, Albany, owned by billionaire Joe Lewis of the Tavistock group.
Albany is a luxury resort community that sits on 600 oceanside acres of New Providence in the Bahamas. Along with Joe Lewis, other founders include pro athletes Tiger Woods and Ernie Els, and musician Justin Timberlake. This under-the-radar destination first opened in 2010. Some of the world’s richest people from A-listers to power figures own property at Albany.
Staying at the Albany
While some people live at the Albany, others come here to vacation. For those planning to visit, Albany has a range of accommodations. You can choose from private beachfront villas or custom home rentals with 24-hour hotel concierge services. There are also many fabulous amenities available to enjoy.
Amenities at the Albany
Fitness and Wellness
The Albany is home to a championship golf course designed by pro-golfer Ernie Els. This lavish resort also includes a state-of-the-art fitness center and spa. They even have a racquet center that features a variety of different tennis courts for all ages and skillsets to enjoy. Classes and programs are available led by renowned instructors. Private lessons are available as well.
As a horse lover, there’s no doubt I would be taking part in their equestrian program. There are miles of trail rides throughout Albany. What could be better than enjoying the sand and surf of Albany on horseback? Sign me up.
The Albany also offers many pools each catering to a different experience. There’s an interactive water playground at Treasure Island and Family Pool with winding waterslides. For adults only, the Azul pool is complete with private cabanas.
You can enjoy Albany’s beautiful coast by participating in the many water sports available. Choose from diving, snorkeling, waterskiing, and windsurfing. Have a blast in the water with jet skis, Seabobs, kayaks, pedal boats, Hobie Cats, or stand-up paddleboards all available for rent.
This luxury resort community even has its own recording studio called The Sanctuary. It merges a state-of-the-art recording studio and learning academy. It was designed in partnership with renowned architects and acoustic designers.
Living at the Albany
Along with rental homes, the Albany offers residences. Marina Residences are luxurious apartments with expansive floor plans. The apartments come equipped with movie theaters, private swimming pools, and captivating views of the ocean. There is also a marina where residents can keep their mega yachts.
This building is called The Honeycomb, the tallest structure within the Albany resort community. This makes it a focal point of the resort and a beacon from the ocean. I love the building’s unique hexagonal pattern. It was designed by renowned architectural firm, Bjarke Ingles Group (BIG).
Joining the list of prolific architects behind Albany is Swedish architectural firm, OOAK Architects. OOAK is a female-led firm behind the newest build on Albany called Tetris, slated to open sometime this year. OOAK is an acronym for One of a Kind.
Tetris will include 25 sprawling luxury apartments that range from 5-6 million. Penthouse properties will be available for 20 million. These impressive homes will have panoramic views of the ocean. In addition, they will have cantilevered lounges and grand terraces with sunken pools.
It’s no surprise why many stars flock to the Albany, founded by Joe Lewis. This luxury resort community is the ultimate paradise. Not only are the natural setting and resort captivating, but there’s so much to do. I hope you enjoyed exploring one of the world’s most exclusive resorts with me.
