Learn to Center Your Professional Stress with Yoga Guru Gina Bernadini

On this episode of Megan Morris TV, I got to chat with my long-time friend Gina Bernadini, yoga instructor at Yoga Mix Orlando. Along with a yoga instructor, she is also a professional artist and DJ — a woman of many talents. We talk about the benefits of yoga and how it can help you center your professional stress. We also discuss the fun events her yoga studio helps organize.

The Benefits of Yoga

Yoga has many benefits and can be especially useful during this time. It’s important to stay grounded with everything going on from COVID-19 to the start of the school year and election season. It’s a great way to relieve stress. This is especially great for demanding professions, like realtors. It’s perfect for any profession where constantly being on the go is required.

I personally love to do yoga in the mornings. I find it to be an excellent way to start and center my day. It helps me concentrate and stay focused. Yoga is also a wonderful way to relax at the end of your day. I now do yoga about five times a week. Although it takes some time, another benefit of yoga is that it increases your flexibility.

Gina and Her Many Passions

Gina has always been passionate about fitness and has done everything from running to aerobics. However, once she had torn her meniscuses, it was hard to continue some of these physical activities. That’s why she’s happy to have found yoga. For her, it was a transformative experience. She witnessed her body change and get into the best shape it’s ever been.

Along with yoga, Gina is also passionate about art and music. She loves that she can combine all of these passions into her yoga studio. She gets to use her DJ skills while curating music for her yoga workouts. The music really helps set the tone for the classes. She sees curating the music as telling a story. It’s a way to enhance and mirror the workout.

The Yoga Mix Studio

Once you enter Gina’s Yoga Mix studio, you’ll get to experience the culmination of her passions firsthand. She sees her studio as a work of art. It’s a beautiful studio with tall 16 ft ceilings and custom art throughout. There’s even a beautiful moss sculpture inside.

Contrary to what a lot of people think, yoga is more than just stretching. At Gina’s Yoga Mix studio, it’s a hybrid of many things including cardio, strengthening, stretching, and breathwork. Another reason I love Yoga Mix is that there is such a variety of classes offered. Some are designed to be more relaxing like the restorative and yin classes, while others involve more cardio. There is truly something for everyone. Gina jokes that no matter the class, they all get “zen in the end.”

Yoga on Rooftops

When events were more common, Yoga Mix would often host events at different locations. Her studio would also host a monthly event called Downdog, where she would DJ while another instructor facilitated the yoga class. They have hosted rooftop yoga in fabulous venues like The Balcony and The Grand Bohemian. The fresh outdoor air really adds to the experience. She even partnered with Pet Rescue by Judy for an event. Participants could practice yoga with dogs available for adoption. It can’t get any sweeter than that.
