Thanks to COVID-19, it’s never been easier to catch up on our favorite Netflix shows. Now that we’re spending more time in front of our televisions, why not upgrade the experience? I’ve gathered some images of luxurious home theaters for inspiration. I hope they spark ideas on how you can make your home theater more enjoyable.
Choose Your Style
Decorate your home movie theater according to your tastes and preferences. You can go as glam or as laid-back as you’d like. We’ll be exploring both options.
Create a Grand Experience

Although we may not be able to recreate a luxury theater in our home of this grandeur, we can still emulate some features in more affordable ways. To recreate a similar look, you can fill your home theater with red velvet furniture, dark wood pieces, and gold accents. If you want to make your theater even fancier, consider adding thick curtains and a chandelier.
Keep It Laidback

If you want to create a more laid-back atmosphere — go for it! Into sports? Create an ambiance that feels more like a sports bar. Make it the perfect spot to watch all your favorite teams play. You can decorate with framed jerseys of your favorite players on the wall. Instead of one large screen, you can choose to have multiple screens much like a sports bar.
Bring It Outdoors

Your home theater doesn’t have to be indoors. You can create an enjoyable experience outdoors, too. If you have a pool, you can set up a screen or projector and enjoy a movie while in the water or from a lounge chair. Get inspired by this Bel-Air mansion’s pop up screen.
Choose Comfortable Seating

Some of the most important aspects of a great home theater experience are the sound, screen, and seating. Comfortable seating is a must. For a more unique experience, consider alternatives to traditional home theater seating like the Seatcraft Cuddle Seat. A U-shaped sofa is also a wonderful choice. Not only is it comfortable for watching movies, but it also creates a great space for conversation and other entertaining.
Upgrade Your Sound System
Quality sound can really enhance your at-home movie theater. It can make you feel like you’re in the middle of the action. If you haven’t already invested in a quality sound system, consider your options to take your home theater to the next level.
One way is to install surround sound. There are wireless versions available like the ones featured in the home theater below. I love how the speakers are white, matching the walls. If your devices come with wires try to keep them hidden. This will keep things looking classy and streamlined. It’s easy to hide devices and wires in cabinets.

Another way is to upgrade your sound is through a soundbar. Soundbars offer high-quality audio without the hassle of having to install surround sound. They have been improving and many are now enhanced by multiple woofers and tweeters, or even expandable to mimic a classic 2-channel sound.
Get Creative with the Details
I encourage you to have fun with your home theater. Think about adding creative details. For example, you can set up a snack station or a vintage popcorn maker. On movie nights, you can set up a light-up letter board with the name of the movie you’re watching to add to the experience.
The pandemic may have limited our entertainment options, but staying home can be just as enjoyable as going out. Luxurious home theaters can offer a temporary escape from reality. I hope this gave you some ideas on how you can create a richer experience in your at-home movie theater. Enjoy!
