Fashionable Masks: How to Wear a Face Mask and Still Look Fabulous

Mask mandates don’t seem to be going away anytime soon. We might as well accept them as a new fashion staple. The great thing is that there are so many options of fashionable masks to choose from. From solid colors to prints and masks with different textures, it’s easy to find a mask you love and fits your personality. You can even get multiple masks to match different outfits. Matching your masks to your outfits can be a fun way to stay safe while looking fabulous.

Choose a Mask that Suits Your Personality

Since face masks cover half your face, it’s important to choose one you love. Choosing a mask that suits you will also help you feel more confident wearing your mask. Start by assessing what your style is. Do you like to dress more simple and understated or do you prefer to make a statement?

If your style is more on the simple side, choose a mask in a simple style. For something simple, I recommend choosing a mask in a solid neutral color or subtle print. You can’t go wrong with a simple black mask. Black is always in fashion, and it matches everything.

There are so many places you can find stylish masks. You can make your own or buy one from the many independent makers on Etsy. You can even find some from designers, like the ones pictured below from Tory Burch.

If you prefer to make a statement, you can choose masks with bolder prints, colors, or embellishments. There are even masks with fringe or holographic print. The possibilities are endless!

Match Your Mask to Your Outfit

Matching your mask to your outfit is another great way to feel more confident in your face mask. If you have a solid neutral color mask, your mask will likely match with any outfit. If your mask is solid, but not a neutral color, you can match by making sure your face mask fits the color scheme of your outfit.

Matching Prints

Matching face masks with prints can be a little trickier. If your mask has a bold print, try to avoid wearing clothing with another bold print that may clash. If you choose to mix prints, the trick is to keep the prints in the same color family. Subtle prints are easier to match.

Orlando Made Masks

Rifle Paper Co.

Although they don’t currently sell face masks on their site, many people are making face masks using their gorgeous fabric. There are a lot of options available online. I adore all of their floral prints. They even donated some fabric to Orlando Face Mask Strong to create masks for children’s hospitals.

Neon Cowboys

Support a black-owned business by purchasing a mask from Orlando based company, Neon Cowboys. If you’re looking for a mask with a lot of character, this is your source. This company is known for its fascinating light-up cowboy hats. Since COVID-19, they’ve added a collection of masks, some of which also implement their light-up technology.

Mask Accessories

Want to embellish your mask even more? Some companies have started offering mask accessories, like mask chains. Not only are they stylish and chic, but they are also convenient. They are a great way to keep your mask accessible without having to carry it around. You can create your own mask holder by using a necklace to attach to your mask.

I hope you feel inspired to try some of these ideas out so you can feel even more confident in your mask. Unlike other design trends, this fashion trend is one that we couldn’t predict. The circumstances are unfortunate that we are still required to wear them, but at least there are a lot of cute options!

Warmly,
Megan
