Has coronavirus ruined all your vacation and travel plans this year? Are you itching for a getaway? Same here! That’s what got me exploring different options on how to take a getaway without compromising safety. One option is to take a road trip to a secluded vacation home where you can relax and social distance. While doing my research, I found some luxurious vacation rentals that are pretty epic. Whether you decide to book a rental or just escape through pictures, I hope you enjoy these vacation rentals, despite coronavirus.

Dunton River Camp

A luxury tent with a bedroom suite inside.

Enjoy a luxury tented camp in Southwest Colorado located in a 19th century Cattle Ranch that is nearly 500 acres. It’s a perfect spot to seclude yourself in nature with the beautiful views of the San Juan Mountains and Dolores River. A meal, sauna, and mountain bikes are included with your stay.

Renting out hotel floors is now more affordable than usual. Wouldn’t it be nice to book an entire floor at the stunning Dupont Circle hotel in Washington, D.C? It reopens in September. Just look at this stylish suite. Don’t even get me started on the marble showers. Wow!

Caldera House

Hotel room at Caldera house with smooth wooden walls and canopy bed.

The Caldera House is a beautiful luxury hotel in the Teton Village of Wyoming. This boutique hotel is at the base of the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. Each suite has multiple bedrooms and its own chef’s kitchens. I love the canopy bed which was trending this year.

Find Unique Rentals via Airbnb and VRBO

You can even find luxurious and unique rentals using Airbnb and VRBO (the Airbnb for luxury vacation rentals). Both sites are taking greater measures to provide extra safety precautions. For instance, Airbnb properties can be listed with an “Enhanced Clean” label. This means hosts have committed to a more rigorous cleaning and sanitation routine. To qualify they must go through training and certification on their new cleaning protocol.

It has been the norm to rent a house with minimal communication with hosts. However, I recommend speaking with the host ahead of time to hear the confirmation of their safety precautions first hand. Another way to take extra safety measures is to bring your own sanitizing wipes and linens.

Among the unique rentals on these sites is the “Sleepless in Seattle” designer houseboat listed on VRBO.

How to Prepare for Your Roadtrip

When preparing for your road trip, there are important things to keep in mind. Before traveling, consider the risk and rate of transmission of the place you are traveling to. Also, consider the risk and rate of transmission of where you are coming from. As much as possible, we want to mitigate the risk of the virus spreading.

Since CDC guidelines are constantly evolving, make sure to read up on them before you leave. You may want to research the restrictions of the place you are going to. Some places are more relaxed while others are stricter. It’s best to know what to expect and avoid surprises. The best way is to check with the city, county, or both to find out what the updated regulations are.

There are also travel restrictions for different states, so it’s best to do your research. If you are coming from a state with a surge in Coronavirus some states will require you to self-quarantine for 14 days. If there are any particular places you wanted to check out make sure to check their most updated hours to make sure they are open.

Once you’ve done your due diligence and booked your getaway, it’s time to relax and enjoy your temporary escape. Whatever you decide, stay safe and have fun! Despite Coronavirus, a stay at one of these luxurious vacation rentals can be a great way to show gratitude for your one, precious life.
