It’s brought to you by the same architect who designed homes for mega-celebrity Beyonce and designer Calvin Klein. Sitting on a stretch of land known as “Billionaire Row,” this home is over-the-top, but in all the best ways!
The Brains Behind This Beauty
The architect responsible for this gorgeous mansion is Paul McClean—a master of space, light, and flow. Paul McClean grew up in Dublin, Ireland. When he was a young boy, he loved drawing houses and went on to study architecture. As a student, he always admired the modern home designs of L.A. He loved seamless architecture that connected the indoors to the outdoors. Now, he is known for defining California luxury living.
In 2000, Paul McClean started his own design firm, McClean Design. It is one of the leading contemporary residential design firms in Los Angeles. His design firm puts emphasis on texture and natural elements. The firm also takes pride in its commitment to sustainable design practices. Paul McClean got his big break when he sold a home he designed to the late, renowned Swedish DJ, Avicii. From then on, he was sought out by celebrities and financiers alike.
The Opus at 1175 Hillcrest Road
Paul McClean was well known early in his career, but he really leveled up when he began working with spec-home developer Nile Niami. Together, they worked on many giga-mansion collaborations, including the one at 1175 Hillcrest Road, which they called “Opus.” A giga-mansion is a home that is at least 20,000 acres, the size of the Opus. Giga-mansions are also distinguished by lavish amenities, and the Opus definitely has its fair share of them.
The Exterior
From the outside, you can see the exterior facade crafted with beautiful white stone. As a true artistic showpiece, one of the first things you see by the entrance is a stunning circular sculpture. It appears to be floating over a small pool of water. The lights around the pool highlight this unique display.
The Interior
The Opus has seven bedrooms, seven bathrooms, two pools, and two kitchens. This spacious home has twelve-foot ceilings and Robert Cavalli floors. It’s fully furnished by Italian designers, sleek fixtures, and exquisite statement lighting.
I love how one of the bathrooms is completely adorned in stone from the floors to the walls. The gorgeous white stone is found throughout the whole mansion. The use of mirrors and light make the epic space appear even larger. My favorite use of mirrors is on the headboard in the bedroom, since it can reflect the cityscape at night—how dreamy and romantic!
There isn’t a bad view from any room in this house. Each room has floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking stunning views of the city. The motorized windows allow you to easily let in the fresh air and California sunshine whenever you please.
Exit out the retractable windows and take a dip in the infinity-edge pool. Take a temporary escape in one of the lounge chairs submerged in the pool. Or you can sit by one of the lavish stone fire pits and watch television from the flatscreen. At night, enjoy jaw-dropping views of the city lights.
The Lavish Amenities
This billionaire home also has a sky bridge, oversized theater, wine cellar, and billiards room. It has multiple hot tubs to relax from. This giga-mansion offers many ways to entertain guests. It also has an auto gallery like this home I previously covered.
My favorite lavish amenity? The champagne room, of course! It doesn’t get any swankier than that. I would host so many parties in this home with that endless supply of champagne…
