If you didn’t know by now, I have a penchant for elegant designs. The “Hollywood Regency” design style is one of my personal favorites. It’s a reflection of the golden age of Hollywood and art deco influences. This style is a perfect blend of sophistication and drama. That’s why I particularly admire the work of Christopher Guy Harrison, a British luxury furniture designer. He is the founder and head designer of international furnishings brand Christopher Guy. You can find his designs in many popular Hollywood films, such as Casino Royale, The Devil Wears Prada, and Ocean’s 11, 12, and 13. His experience on film sets shines through in his designs. Not only do his designs grace the sets of Hollywood movies, but they can also be found in the most exclusive hotels around the world.

Rooted In Elegance
There is no doubt that Christopher Guy Harrison’s love for beauty and design was shaped by the surroundings in which he grew up. His exposure to many different cultures as a kid contributes to his distinctive style. Raised in the 1970s along the shoreline of the French Riviera, he was subject to the intrinsic elegance of French design all around. This explains his pursuit of elegance in everything he designs. He describes French design as “an effortless form that is beyond beauty.” Christopher has a critically constructive eye and draws inspiration from everything he admires. Elegance is part of the DNA of every piece designed by the Christopher Guy brand. It’s central to the brand’s philosophy.

Christopher Guy’s Designs
Originally known for his wide range of decorative mirrors, his vast collection now includes anything from upholstery to office furniture. He has even partnered with award-winning floor covering company, Nourison, to create a collection of luxury rugs in 2017. This satisfied his “need to design beautiful rugs based on his own personal interpretation of how Coco Chanel’s home may have looked if she was with us today.” This is no surprise considering Coco Chanel’s designs are the epitome of elegance.

Cristopher’s designs reflect a contemporary mood with timeless values. This is easy to see in his patented Chris-X (pronounced kris-kros) leg design. It is said to be inspired by the waistline of Scarlett O’hara in “Gone With the Wind” and the crossed legs of a ballerina. “My aim was to design a chair that was simple, sophisticated, and flexible enough to work with a variety of style categories,” Christopher said of his design. He has translated the signature design to other furniture pieces as well, like his breathtaking vanities.

I love that he implements flowing, sensual lines in his designs. The flowing lines suggest movement, adding extra elements of beauty and allure… Just look at this gorgeous chair!

Dita Bedroom Suite
One of my favorite Christopher Guy collections is his Dita bedroom suite. I love its modern glamour. The collection is streamlined and luxurious. The neutral colors make this set very versatile. The dark pieces give the collection a masculine edge, and overall, this collection is very gender-neutral. To me, the standout elements of this collection are the bed’s silhouette and decorative Cartier mirror. I love the flowing lines of the bed frame, and the rich surface texture of the mirror frame is stunning.

I don’t think there’s any luxury furniture designer that nails modern glamour quite like Christopher Guy. His pieces are stunning works of art that are modern yet classically elegant. His designs reflect his impeccable taste. If you want your space to feel like you’re living a Hollywood dream, add a Christopher Guy piece to your collection.
Warmly,
Megan
