Sliding doors are one of my favorite trends in recent years (also often referred to as “barn doors”). These doors are great because of their style, versatility, and space-saving ability. They can close off a small area, such as a home office or a bathroom, without taking up as much space as a traditional door and with easier installation than a pocket door.
While the barn look is the most popular at the moment, sliding doors come in a variety of styles. They can be modern, glamorous, rustic, vintage ─ you name it. Your creativity really is the limit when it comes to sliding doors. Because of this, they can also be a fun way to bring some character to a space. I particularly love it when people salvage old doors and turn them into sliding doors. It’s such a charming accent!
Installation of sliding doors on a track is a project you can tackle yourself without spending a lot of money. You can even build the door yourself if you’re up for the challenge. Here is a great tutorial from HGTV on how to build and install a sliding door.
