One of the things I love most about hotel rooms is how they design their bathrooms. Typically, the rule of thumb is clean and elegant. There is lots of white and negative space to give you that simplified, luxurious vibe you are looking for when you are on vacation. You can learn a lot from hotels when staging your home for sale, but many of the same tricks can be applied to your permanent residence, as well.
If you’ve ever thought “I wish my bathroom was like this at home,” then you aren’t alone. There are some easy and inexpensive tricks that will make this space feel more sophisticated and incorporate a feeling of luxury (without the big price tag.) Here are 10 tips for creating your own hotel-style bathroom.
Black and white is a go-to color palette for hotels. It’s clean, crisp and classic.
Keep your surfaces free of as much clutter as possible.
Incorporate an ottoman for style and function (such as when you need to put on your shoes.)
Mirrors reflect light and make the space feel a lot larger and thus, more stately.
Most hotel rooms or bathrooms come with a vanity. Keep just a few pieces of jewelry, toiletries and decor out on the surface and hide the rest away in cabinets and drawers.
Hang up a classic robe and fold the last piece of toilet paper. These are simple little touches that feel special.
Adorn a tray with candles and other small luxuries to pamper yourself or your guests.
Fill an apothecary jar with soaps for a great piece of decor that is very spa-like.
If it’s in your budget, the sink can be a great spot to get creative, especially if you like the boutique hotel experience.
