Every year, people await to hear what the color experts from Pantone have deemed as the Color of the Year. This year, the color is Marsala, a beautiful wine red. I love this color because of how versatile it is. It can be soft and feminine or strong and masculine, and has a natural elegance to it that makes it feel earthy but sophisticated. Burgundy has always been a very robust color to use, and Marsala certainly captures all its best qualities.
The internet is flooded with tons of inspiring examples of Marsala, but I’ve chosen ten of my own favorites to represent it. Take a look at the Pantone Color of the Year 2015, Marsala…
Richly colored chairs give the dining room some elegant pigment against luxurious neutrals.
This Anthropologie bed set has a very romantic appeal to it that could suit a feminine or gender neutral space depending on the decor around it.
The chairs showcase a very vibrant form of Marsala that pops richly against a black and white palette.
The subtle touch of Marsala in the stools at the foot of the bed add a nice bold touch of pigment to an otherwise muted space, bringing some dimension.
In a neutral space like this living room, an accent color can bring a lot of life to it. Marsala works well in this role because of its versatile appeal.
The colored couch compliments the dark gray walls and rich wood furniture in this contemporary space.
The rich color in the art almost glows against the dark palette of the space, complimenting the gold accents and matching flowers in the vase.
A light shade of Marsala works well as a textured wallpaper to add to the character of this space.
If you are feeling bold, Marsala can certainly stun on the walls.
Painting the front door a color is a great way to add personality to a home. Marsala looks beautiful and inviting as a first impression.
What do you think of this year’s Pantone Color of the Year? Will you be incorporating it into your home’s decor?
Warm regards,
Megan
