One of my favorite looks that has been popping up a lot in design lately is the use of a settee as seating in a dining room. Mixing up the chairs at the table has always produced some fabulous results, but the introduction of a settee takes this idea to the next level. If you weren’t familiar with the term settee before, here’s the definition:
Settee: a seat for two or more persons, having a back and usually arms, and often upholstered.
Dining room settees add an extra dose of style and elegance to the space. It definitely bumps it up a notch, making the space feel more upscale and gives it a lot more character. There are so many different settees out there to choose from that this look is very versatile and can suit a myriad of styles, as well as different room shapes and sizes. Take a look at these great examples of a dining room settee to get some ideas for your own home.
A rounded settee is perfect for a smaller space, such as a breakfast nook, because it gives it that extra dose of style without making it feel cramped.
This settee helped define the dining room in an open living arrangement and gave the space its own identity.
Settees don’t always have to fit the full length of the table. Here, it is mixed with another chair and still provides a lot of character.
Mismatched seating makes this dining room feel totally unique and charming, especially with the antique details on each piece.
Having a color on the settee and neutrals on the other chairs is a nice way to incorporate color while still keeping an elegant look.
Settees can come in many interesting shapes such as this one that are statement pieces in their own right.
The pop of orange in the settee draws your eye to the focal wall and warms up the space.
Two settees flank this table to create an easy “wow” factor. The details on the sides of each settee really add to the drama.
A rounded settee echoes the shape of the table and fosters a nice flow through the space.
The chevron pattern on the settee makes this whole dining room come to life.
Would you ever consider including a settee in your dining room seating? If so, which one of these would you love to use in your home?
Warm regards,
Megan
