One of the most memorable images in Christmas decor (besides the tree, of course) is a decorated staircase. You see it all the holiday movies with the garland wrapped around the banister. Garland is still the go-to for most people and there’s nothing wrong with keeping with this beautiful tradition, but if you are looking for a way to put a fresh spin on your Christmas staircase, then I’ve gathered some ideas that may inspire you. Many of them do include garland, but mix in some other accents to give it a little something extra.
White lights and stockings dress up the garland with wintery elegance to match the white palette of this staircase.
The garland on this banister is simple and plays well off the decor along the wall for a chic and understated appeal.
The oversized garland fits with the grand, glamorous look of this staircase. Ribbons and lights add some extra charm to it.
If you want to try something a little different, tie evergreens to branches along the posts and sprinkle them with winterberries, ribbon and ornaments.
Fluffy swags of greenery bring color to this neutral palette, while gold and green ornaments and bows add some character.
Give your garland a coastal spin by hanging sand dollars and starfish along the greenery.
Oversized white bows are a more unexpected adornment for the garland and offer up some easy style.
Stockings filled with greenery hang from doorstops along the outer steps for some unexpected decoration.
Little fluffs of greenery adorn the tops of some of the picture frames on this gallery wall, incorporating the holiday spirit.
If you go simple on the garland, you can do more along the base of the staircase without risking it being “too much.”
I hope these ideas have inspired you to look at your staircase decor a little differently this Christmas.
Warm regards,
Megan
