The term “eat-in kitchen” usually refers to a table in the kitchen, but it takes on a new meaning when a large island serves as the table. This look has been growing in popularity because of how multi-functional it is and how much space it can save in the kitchen. Large table-style islands have a wonderful visual impact, too. They can be the focal point of your kitchen with beautiful lighting overhead, stylish chairs, and chic accents. Some table-style islands even embrace their multi-purpose function and have a very “table style” look with four legs and all.
Here are some great examples of table-style islands to give you plenty of inspiration.

Rich, dark wood on the island juxtaposes the white cabinets to create depth. The detail on the island makes it feel like an old piece of furniture, giving the kitchen a lot of character, while the suede on the bench softens it.

A lip over the edge of this table-style island makes it comfortable for three stools to fit nicely under it for a prime dining spot. An extra outlet in the island will prove to be very useful when using appliances on the island when cooking.

Two extra shelves make this island have THREE purposes: dining, prep space, and additional storage. Painting it green makes it stand out as a great design feature.

By extending the counter top of the island into an L-shape, it allowed for extra dining or prep space without interfering with the other section of the island.

Blue chairs bring some extra color and depth to the rustic space. Baskets serve as storage for produce on the shelf below.

This all-white kitchen uses pops of green and silver to create a clean, fresh space. Simple, yet beautiful details on the island such as corbels give it some style.

Tangerine stools really pop in this white kitchen. They are a perfect accent to spice it up while also serving as a great place for your kids or guests to sit.

Small benches tuck right under the lip of a table-style island to stay out of the way when not in use. Their rustic flavor fits right into the cozy style of this eat-in kitchen.

Suede benches are big on style and bring some elegance to the rustic table-style island. They tuck under to save space when not in use.

This island boasts extra storage underneath in the form of cabinets with paneled doors for a lovely finished look.
