Home Tour: Cameron Diaz’s Manhattan Apartment

One of the best sources of design inspiration you can come by is looking at other professionally designed homes. Celebrities have some of the most extravagant, beautifully designed homes and are often willing to open their doors to magazines to show off their beauty. This is a great opportunity for homeowners to get some great ideas, since usually celebrities employ the help of some of the top designers in the world to outfit their homes. We may not all have a celebrity’s budget, but we can definitely steal a few ideas here and there from their gorgeous homes.

I saw a tour of Cameron Diaz’s Manhattan apartment in Elle Decor recently and its unique charm and Hollywood glamour really captured my interest. She teamed up with designer Kelly Wearstler to create a fabulous space. Here are the photos, as well as my own thoughts on the choices she and her designer made and how you can use them for inspiration in your home.

Kelly and Cameron are pictured together here in front of a brass cabinet that Kelly designed herself to cleverly hide a television.

Don’t be afraid of color! This room’s soft palette of rose-petal and yellow is unusual yet feels traditional because of the way the colors were blended together to create a sophisticated space.

Burnished metals and metallic surfaces add a lot of glamour to this art deco-inspired dining room. The gold-tinted mirrored grid wall makes the space feel open but not dated.

Lacquered brass makes for a very unique and stylish backsplash in this green kitchen. It matches the countertops and hardware, creating a unified look.

The grid mirrored wall from the dining room is repeated in the living room, creating consistency and reflecting light from the perpendicular wall of windows.

The gold ceiling and lacquered black beams in this luxe bedroom add a lot of interest in texture and combat the grey tones throughout the room.

This master bathroom was sheathed in aged glass tiles that bring a wonderful antique glamour. You could imagine an old Hollywood starlet getting ready for her close-up in this bathroom.

Here is another beautifully patterned ceiling, just going to show that you should never forget to design all the way up. Its sheen adds an extra touch of glamour.

This guest bathroom looks like something straight out of The Great Gatsby. I love the geometric design on the shower door and the textured brass sink.

Cameron and Kelly proved to be a great team in creating a space that is at once glamorous, eclectic and comfortable.

Warm regards,
Megan
