Fall Fashion Trends to Inspire Your Home Decor

Fashion and interior decorating have always had a close relationship, especially for me. I’ve studied both and have had a mutual love for them my whole life. Often, you will see the same trends crossing over both mediums. Both can be inspiring forces for each other, which is why I am introducing a new series of posts to my blog: Fashion & Interior Decor. In these regular posts, I will be exploring the love affair between fashion and interior decor, how the two can inspire each other, and most important ─ how they can inspire you.

To kick off this series, I have enlisted the help from one of my friends, top Orlando stylist and all-around fiercely talented woman Tammara Kohler of Fused Fashion. She has shared with me some of fall’s biggest trends and I’ve translated them into interior decor. Check them out…

GOLD METALLICS have been in and out of the trend landscape for centuries. While gold may not always be considered a “trend,” classic gold accents never truly go out of style. For this fall season, gold metallics are making a comeback on the runways and in interior decor, especially in accessories.

BROCADE is popping up as a popular pattern in both fashion and interior decor that lends itself to the reinassance era. This elegant pattern can be seen on wallpaper, furniture and accessories, especially fabric used for pillows, area rugs and bedding.

LEATHER & VINYL are a fashionable choice that suit many design aesthetics, from modern to traditional. Wax and other textures with shine are popular on both the fashion and interior decor scenes right now, and of course leather is leading the way.

GREEN (in fact, all shades of green) is one of the most pervasive colors in design. It is a color most associated with nature and can be warm, bright, funky, or traditional ─ you name the style, green can capture it. It is a versatile and beautiful color that can breathe life into any room in the house.

BLACK AND BLUE is a bold, yet sophisticated color combination that appeals to both men and women alike. Breaking up the bold black and blue with pops of white and gold or silver will make the dark colors less overwhelming and more classic, as seen in the photo.

Hope you found some inspiration in these fashion trends. Stay tuned for more ways to translate fashion into interior decor.

Warm regards,
Megan
