10 Inspiring Farmhouse Bedroom Ideas

It’s no secret that farmhouse style has taken the decorating world by storm. It’s one of the biggest trends in the industry and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. The style embraces a clean neutral palette, rustic textures, and a touch of cozy elegance. One of my favorite rooms to see the farmhouse style in is the bedroom.

Farmhouse lends itself perfectly to bedroom design because of its mixture of comfort and elegance. Even though the style is quite distinct, it has a lot of versatility, too. You can take it very feminine or masculine, minimalist or maximalist, sophisticated or casual. What it does always have is plenty of charm and character.

Here are 10 beautiful examples of farmhouse bedroom design to inspire you.

Bringing in a Pop of Color with a Colorful Kitchen Island

The kitchen is one of the most popular places in which to use neutral colors. Neutral palettes are great for a lot of reasons, such as flexibility with decor (you can switch out accent colors whenever you want, such as for seasons) and resale value. However, if you want to make bring in a bold pop of color in your kitchen, you may be thinking you have to paint the cabinets or change out the backsplash.

Instead of doing all of that work, why not just change the color of the island?

Colorful kitchen islands are the perfect way to bring in a pop of color without doing any major renovation. Also, because it’s contained to one spot, it has more of an impact than changing the walls, cabinets or backsplash. This one accent can bring a lot of charm and character to the space. And it’s very unexpected.

Check out these 10 examples of colorful kitchen islands to get some inspiring ideas.

Capturing Creativity and Charm with Barn Door Decor

With the rise of farmhouse decorating, barn doors have seen a surge in popularity, too. It’s not hard to see why. The classic design adds a lot of character to a home and is very versatile not only in where it can be used, but also how it can be styled.

For function, sliding barn doors work in a myriad of spaces, from adding privacy to a room without a door (such as a den or dining room) to hiding things such as a television or laundry area in a hallway. And for decor, they can work as a vignette or even a creative DIY headboard.

There are tons of barn door DIY tutorials on the internet for various sizes and uses and you can easily customize them as you see fit. If you don’t want to make one, you can find vintage barn doors at thrift stores, junk yards, and garage sales.

Here are 10 inspiring ideas for using barn doors to add character to your decorating.

Home Tour: Faith Hill and Tim McGraw’s Serene Bahamas Home

When you hear the word “paradise,” one of the images that probably comes to mind is a tropical island. Country stars Faith Hill and Tim McGraw certainly felt that way when they saw the 20-acre private island in the Bahamas that they recently purchased and on which they built a stunning home.

Everything about the place is beautiful and serene. Hill and McGraw appreciated the natural beauty of the island so much that they turned to McAlpine, an architecture-and-interior design firm, to help them create a home that embraced that natural beauty as much as possible.

The result is a gorgeous estate that flows with the island. It is modern yet comfortable, primarily using white to promote a clean, airy feeling throughout the home and accenting it with other neutrals. Any pops of color have been inspired by ones found on the island, such as greens and blues.

Enjoy this stunning home tour courtesy of Architectural Digest.
